Recognize yourself as a friend.

Happy Wednesday, folks.

This past week has had it’s share of challenges [and always blessings, too].

There’s no way around telling you that as I write to you today.

The last few days have left my inner voice nearly inaudible – because so many other people and circumstances are, loudly, telling me what I need to do. Have to do. Should do. Could do.

I am normally pretty adept at filtering others’ voices through my own, but this week I’ve been faced with some things that were outside of my control. And I had to put myself at the mercy of some, and into the hands of others.

And by this morning, my inner voice – the fierce Nikki Danger – had had enough.

So now, as I type…

I am back in my bedroom. My desk downstairs sits empty.

My skinny jeans are draped on my armchair. Yoga pants it is.

My hair is in a wet bun. My blowdryer will not make an appearance today.

And you might be thinking that I’m pretty lazy. Or sad. Or weak. Or dramatic.

But you’d be wrong, my little dear.

Because I realized something wonderful.

My Juicy Glad-I-Caught-That: “Never forget that once upon a time, in an unguarded moment, you recognized yourself as a friend.” ~Elizabeth Gilbert

And that’s what I plan to be for myself for the rest of the day – a friend.

Today, I need to work from my comfy chair, cuddle-up in my relaxing clothes, and sweep my hair out of my face because I have bigger fish to fry. And sometimes, my go-mode needs to come to a full stop. Because I need to hear a whisper inside of me, and there’s no other way for me to do it.

Full stop.

So…

I bought myself some flowers – orange and black dyed carnations [who would have thunk it?!], ate a bowl of my favorite childhood cereal, and threw on “Roar” for good measure – because today, I need to be my own soft place to land.

How about you?  What can you do for yourself today in order to stand a little stronger tomorrow?  Recognize yourself as a friend.

See you on the flip-side.

In love,

Noelle
