Happy Wednesday, folks.
Administrative tasks make me giddy.
I love knowing what I need to do, making a list, and checking things off [can I get a “Ho! Ho! Ho!”].
When I officially started in the virtual world at the beginning of this year, my knowledge didn’t extend beyond the possibility of becoming a VA – or virtual assistant.
So that’s what I did.
I joined a handful of teams and I started getting things done. Things that my clients asked me to do. In many cases, things they didn’t enjoy doing on their own.
Easy breezy.
And what’s not to love? I was taking care of business. I was removing some of the burden from cool female small business owners. AND I had the freedom to pick-up my kids from school.
A good VA rocks your socks.
Want your blog posted at 2pm on Wednesdays – got it!
Need a report of your referral partner activity from your last launch – no problem!
Uh, oh! You need training classes setup in WebEx the 1st three Tuesdays of the next three months– have no fear, your VA is here!
But when you need someone to take a strategic stance for your business, that can become a little more involved.
As your business grows, you may choose to partner with someone who is brilliant at holding a space for you. Someone who can make decisions on your behalf – because together over time you have built a relationship of trust. And because they sincerely want your business to succeed.
This year I spent many of waking hours helping other people get what they wanted. And man, oh man, was that a worthwhile investment in my own development.
It’s important not to mistake helping other people to get what they want with being a doormat for everyone that steps up to your threshold. Au contraire, my little dear.
What I’m referring to is finding your passion – and your peeps – setting your aim on them, and then blowing them away.
While I still love making my list and checking it twice ;), my role has evolved into something more with my clients. My goal is to nurture and protect the opening for my client to do the things that only she can do in her business – and for me to worry about the rest.
My Juicy Glad-I-Caught-That: “You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” ~Zig Ziglar
It doesn’t happen overnight. Trust is absolutely necessary when working so intimately with other small business owners and trust is something that takes time to build.
But a direct result of my dedication to my clients and their vision is that I get everything that I want. I am able to work with some of the very coolest women I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I am exposed to top-notch coaching and training. I have time to focus on my non-profit work. And just yesterday, I had the freedom to watch my children sleigh-ride in the backyard in between keystrokes.
So are you a do-er – a top-notch VA that small business owners cannot live without? Or are you a DO-ER – an expert streamliner and simplifier for your clients?
Either is awesome – both are necessary. This isn’t a competition. Just think about it. Because I want you to have everything that you want. So how do you do?
See you on the flip-side.
In love,
Noelle
