I received an interesting video from a colleague today. It was thought-provoking. Maybe you have seen it.
There was a man who walked into a donut shop primed with a “crazy” request. He was expecting rejection. He yearned for rejection, actually. What he got, however, was quite different indeed.
What he received in response to what was quite honestly a seemingly absurd request, was curiosity. And grace. And a cheerleader. Who knew?
You never know until you try, is what “they” say, right?
Watching this video shifted my whole day.
I was overtired from a lousy night’s sleep – which is unusual for me. I was heading straight into the eyes of overwhelm – which is also unusual for me. I texted my partner + told him how I was feeling. Then I felt like crap for giving him my sob story. He had virtually the same night’s sleep. He bounced out of bed this morning ready for a full day. He didn’t text me about the less-than-stellar day he was partaking in. That was all me + my mindset at work.
I even bailed on girls’ night – what?! Who does that?!
This girl.
And then I received an email with a link to a video.
I laughed. And I got goosebumps. And then I thanked this woman for sending me the video because it changed my day.
I wrote back to my friend and apologized for being blah – I wanted back in to girls’ night. She accepted me with love.
I posted a new program on Facebook – and got a great response from my peers.
I texted my partner back + told him about my wins. And I got a loving response from my very own cheerleader.
When you feel like you’re in overwhelm, ask for help. Look for help. Take the help.
My new program, Pen Your Processes, is just the help you are looking for as a business owner. So much more to come about it, but if you’re interested, ping me! I’d love to know you are looking for a hand. Sometimes you need to ask a “crazy” question of someone – they just might surprise you with the answer you are looking for.
And, thanks, J, for being a great friend today. I love talking shop with you over a glass of white. Or red. Or blush. Or even a chocolate muffin.
In love,
N
